How It Works
After contacting me by email or telephone, we can agree to meet for an initial assessment. During this assessment you can give me some background about yourself and decide whether you would like to work with me. If this is the case, we can then commit to a working alliance which will usually mean that we will meet once a week. This alliance might be short term, for a single issue or goal, or longer term. If you have been struggling with something for years or since childhood, time is needed. Even if it was possible to condense a long-term issue into a small timeframe, my own experience has shown me that the results are not integrated unless attention is given to getting used to living within your new way of being in the world.
We will work within a contract which I will go through with you in your first session. The contract is a set of boundaries that we will establish together, which provides a safe and professional framework for our sessions and for our therapeutic relationship. I abide by the ethical frameworks of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), of which I am a registered member, and the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapists (UKCP), which accredits my professional work. I am also fully insured and have supervision with a senior psychotherapist.
Fees and Timings
My fee works on a sliding scale of £90 to £60 dependent on your financial circumstances. This can be discussed by telephone before we begin working together or when we meet. I do have some low cost sessions allocated for students and unemployed clients. Each session lasts for 50 minutes and is usually on a weekly basis.
